Worship Debrief (13/07/08)

Worship Team Debrief

Songs played: Great in Power, For All You've Done, How Great Is Our God, How Great Thou Art, Trust & Obey, Spirit Touch Your Church, As Bread That Is Broken.

  • One thing is for certain, the band has really come a long way! Good job on building up most of the songs (especially for the closing song). The last song was well played with appropriate build up and softening. However, there was a sense of the band members going by feeling according to what is the flow of the song (i.e. when to slow down and build up). This has been mentioned before: eye contact is very important! Also, remember to constantly look out for signals given by the worship leader.

  • The speed of the songs were consistent throughout and that is good! There weren't any unnecessary speeding up or sudden slowing down. Good keep of tempo! I can also see that the band has learned not to be too kan-chiong when building up or even when going into the chorus of the fast songs.
  • The tone of the first 2 songs tended to be a bit monotonous. Although the tempo was kept constant, which is good, but there was no difference in the dynamics between the chorus and the verse for both songs. I believe that we need to listen out for the overall fluidity of the song and not only concentrate on our own instruments. After all, we are a team. I would like to emphasize that there is no need for everyone to be playing at exactly the same time.
On the whole, I felt that it was a good time of worship and I believe that God has used the music that you played today to work in the hearts of many. Do continue to put in effort and trust in God and I believe He will bring this team to higher heights (:

Also, I would like to know your experiences of leading the main service in worship. You can either tag, comment, email me, or sms me. Whichever is the most convenient (: See you on friday for jamming!

In His Love,
Xiaorong
