It's 2012 already!!! How time flies...
As we go into the new year, I hope that you guys will purposely set apart some time from your busy schedules for you to spend with God. It is important that we bury ourselves in God's word so that we will not be swayed by the world. It is my prayer for you guys that we will grow in the Lord as one body through our service and may He use these hands to bless the people around us.

I've tried to spice things up a little bit on the Worship Team blog and I'm going to be posting some stuff up here, articles, etc that I feel is useful and relevant to us! This is to those who are coming for church camp and have responded to being able to play for the worship in Church Camp.

The roster is as follows, along with the practise dates.

Adrian wants to have 2x practise sessions in Singapore, and 1 more last minute practise session in Malaysia just before the worship.

Hey guys! Just a few announcements..

1. JAMMING!

Yep, this week jamming's gonna start so if you don't remember what's supposed to happen, Tim's gonna be leading us in a time of devotion and he has already chosen some songs which we will practice during our sectionals. Next week, we would then jam these songs! Eggciting!

This week's jamming IC would be (drumroll plzzzz): MARK TAN XINGWEI!!!!!!! (clap clap) Please make sure you know who is turning up and who is not. Whoever can't make it, inform Mark so we wouldn't have to keep waiting! :)

2. FUSION 2011

There's gonna be a clinic run by Dband and I encourage everyone of you to go for it! The last time, I went for one run by Parachute Band and it was amazing! I really took back lots of stuff from it. So next Saturday (16 Apr), there will be two workshops conducted:

- Mercy Ministries (outreach)

- Worship Dynamics

Both are at PLMC and it starts at 2pm. So from 2-2.30pm, they will be leading us in a short time of worship, then we'll break into the two workshops. The worship dynamics would be more relevant to the older ones who can already play an instrument but if you are just keen to listen, please attend by all means!! Don't be scared :)

Then FUSION BEGINS!!!!!!! There's gonna be some music performances by some of the Methodist Churches' worship teams between the workshops and Fusion itself so maybe you guys wanna check them out and listen to their styles as well! I head PLMC, TPMC and AMC are sending their worship teams to play!

*Come early if you want a seat, the response has been overwhelming!

Worship Team Retreat 2011

Hey all,

Here is the timetable and the packing list for the retreat. Please print them out for your reference. I understand that some of you can't stay over or anything because you have something on the next day. However, if you can come for the remaining activities, do join us!

I hope that you guys will take this retreat seriously (yet not that serious la..) as it would be a time of refreshing, bonding (to know the new band members too!) and brushing up on our technicality. Please keep this retreat in prayer and ask God to prepare yourself as He reveals Himself to you and as you offer up your gifts and talents in service to Him.

Many times I've been jealous of someone or something but I never once knew the feeling of being Jealous for ... The word jealous as much as it has a negative connotation to the word, it encapsulates a form of love and longing. The first 5 words of this song, "He is jealous for me..", just broke me down. Someone up there is jealous for me. If you turn your jealousy of someone into how God is jealous for you, I guess you would be able to somehow feel what God is feeling, not fully, but somewhat there. What amazing words...

Living Sacrifices

Hey guys!

I just came here to post because I'm taking a break from studying.

Anyway, it's been 4 days from IGNITE now and I wonder how's everyone doing? Is the flame sizzling out or is it still burning as brightly as it was on Sunday? It's difficult to fan this flame on the inside of us when we're out there; in the world. The world that we know, is shrouded in darkness. It's hard to keep up with our daily Christian lifestyle which we led for 3 days during IGNITE with no real temptation to do anything 'wrong'. Being back out in the world (yes facebook and twitter) is a real challenge for me. If I had not shared with you all earlier, being in a JC/Poly exposes you to different kinds of people. People who hold the bible on one hand and a cigarette on the other, people who look like they've been drugged, people who look good on the outside and ugly on the inside and vice versa. It was quite a culture shock for me, well maybe because life was all fine and dandy back in my all-girls' school. It was a daily struggle for me keep away from these people even though some of them are my good friends. I couldn't understand how they could lead their life without feeling a burden/responsibility on their shoulders. I mean hey, you profess you're Christian and you're smoking in front of me!!!!

Yet, it was because they were able to do it, I felt that I could easily be of the world. We are called to be in the world but not of the world and the difference in just a single word makes everything so different. After IGNITE, I realised I should always hold fast to my faith even though I may be tempted. And should it be tough, we must always lean on Him for strength.

So guys, as you go back to school in 2 weeks and start the whole routine of school-life again, are you going to go back to your normal self, living victoriously and shamelessly because you were called to so? Wait, not so fast. Think about it and make sure you are being honest to God and to yourself.

it's a worship and music camp for youths and youth adults by New Heart Music Ministries. You can check them out! There will be 4 instructors from the USA!

2. INTENSIVE BASS GUITAR CLASS

Hey guys,

Just a quick note.

Firstly, as we approach Holy Week, really encourage all of your to attend the services everyday.
Its in the final week of this month leading up to Good Friday. Its always a great time spent in the presence of God, and especially in that week where we remember the price He paid on the cross.

Secondly, the youth ministry worship team have been asked to play for worship for the chinese ministry in Easter Sunday. The church has decided to do away with a combined service with the chinese ministry, so we will be playing in the Chinese Ministry service on Easter Sunday at the Upper Room. The band rostered on are:

WAM CAMP 2010

Hey Guys! Yep it's the time of the year again.... (well..soon) HOLIDAYS!! And this time, TRAC is organising WAM CAMP 2010 again!!! I went for WAM camp and it did teach me some stuff, esp the basics. So if you wanna brush up on your skills, get a firm grip on your basics, this is the camp!!!

In case you don't know, WAM Camp 2010 is a Worship And Music Camp organised by TruthMin, the TRACYouth team. So don't worry it's not some random champalang camp that we're sending you to.

WAM camp will be held from 15^th - 17^th of March (Monday – Wednesday), 9am-5pm, at Wesley Methodist Church.

Designed to train youth of beginner standard, WAM Camp will provide training in the areas of:

Worship leading
Vocals
Keyboards*
Acoustic guitar
Electric guitar
Bass guitar
Drums

(*should already have basic piano training and the ability to read chords)

If you feel you have the passion and the heart to learn more and the potential to serve in these areas, please do come for this camp. There will be a great time of fellowship and learning! Promise!!

As space in each faculty is limited, Please sign up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. The closing date for registration is 28 February 2010. Let me know if you want to sign up by the 12 Feb ok?

Okay so no one really reads this space because there isn't anything to read anyway....
It's a been a long time since I've posted. School has started and I've been tremendously busy, new J1s coming in, trainings for Nationals, yada yada. I'm sure the rest of you are also dreading school as much as I am.. every. single. day. It's like nooooooooo.......... (think slo-mo)

Just wanna encourage you peepz as we trudge through school, let's take each day at a time, and remember that God is sovereign in all situations. No matter how much we dread school (ok me), dread homework, dread some of our lessons/teachers/schoolmates, dread emotional problems. God is on top of everything.

Anyway, just wanted to share a few new songs with you guys, they're from Parachute Band. Not sure if you guys have heard them, but this is from their (relatively) new album- Technicolour.
What I like about Parachute Band is that even though each instrument is playing so elaborately, they still manage to play as one and nobody overshadows the other. Perhaps we can learn something from them. Not to forget, their lyrics are also honest and very simple. It can be a simple cry to God or a prayer to Him.

You know, I kinda had an epiphany of sorts this morning on the bus to work.
I finally decided and found out what my favourite worship song of all time is.
YES! I KNOW!
It's weird isn't it! Like how can you decide on just ONE song when there are so many songs out there that are just as good!
While songs like 'One Way', 'Time Has Come', 'Take It All', 'Shout To The Lord', 'The Stand' (yes i know...Hillsong galore!) and 'Jesus Loves Me' all get special mention for being up there.
But one thing I realised is that this song is very personal to me and thats why its no.1.

OK. I know you're dying to know what song it is.
It's "From The Inside Out" by Hillsong (again!).

Firstly, the song itself technically is a masterpiece. The introductory riff creates a great atmosphere, and the build up in the verse and pre-chorus that leads to the chorus cry is just great.

BBBBBUUUUTTTT!
That's not why I love this song.
It's not about the technicality of this song, but because of the lyrics and meaning behind this song.

It's my favourite song, because within this song, contains my whole revelation of who Jesus is and what the message of Christ means to us.
And I feel like my whole life's testimony is wrapped up in this simple song.

No matter how many thousand and million times I've failed as a person and more importantly, as a Child of God, His mercy and love still remains. And that no matter what, His light will be shining brightly for me when all else fails and I can fall back on His grace when I stumble.
So with that, I just want to lose myself in bringing praise to God, from the inside out of my soul crying out to Him.

WOW. That whole paragraph there is what this song is all about to me.
That I was a person that was broken and spoilt. And Jesus came into my life, and HE messed me up in a good way. And I am now able to stand for Him. And even though I may fail at times, He will never fail me.

I personally think worship is about you and God.
It's about coming before a real God and being real to Him about your struggles and your worries, and after being real to Him, its about bringing a real heart and real soul up to Him and letting Him REALLY take control of it. Now that's SURREAL, but its SO REAL!

May You find the art of losing yourself in worship to a Real God.

Worship Leading.

This is one of my favorite worship leaders. Kirk Franklin. He was and still is my inspiration everytime I lead worship. The passion, the joy, and the liberation this guy has in Christ is amazing. Notice the way he led this song. He doesn't sing at all. He leads worship. What is worship? It is loving God and loving Others. As a Worship Leader, you are to direct the people to loving God... So you dont have to sing or know how to sing (if you have a great choir or 1/2 wonderful backup singers) Your role as a Worship Leader is to guide and direct the people into the presence of God.

So if you ever thought that worship leading is all about singing songs, you are wrong. That is a song leader, not a worship leader.

Leave the singing out if you cant sing, let the singers do their job, you do yours. If you have the gift and anointing, God is calling out to you today: Will YOU allow ME to use YOU to lead my people into MY presence?

There are a lot of things to think about when you’re leading a group of people in songs of worship.

Are the instruments in tune?
Am I giving clear directions?
Is the band playing together?
Are the lyrics being projected at the right time?
Are we singing in the right keys?
Are people engaged with what we’re singing?

There are dozens of areas to focus on and missing any one of them can have a detrimental effect.

But what’s the most important thing to remember? What question do I want to ask every time I step up to lead a group of people in worship?

I think it’s this: Have we magnified God’s worth in Jesus Christ?

We can see God’s worth in countless ways, but it’s intimately connected with His actions. We don’t worship a nebulous spirit-being who has no relationship with the physical world. God has acted in history and redeemed us to proclaim the excellence of everything He’s done. He created the worlds with a word, He rules over the universe, He judges the nations, He sustains every living thing, He keeps the planets in their orbits, He watches over our affairs, and provides for us.

But God’s worth is seen most clearly in the giving of His only Son to die as our substitute at Calvary. When as we gather to worship God, a primary focus needs to be the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. Here are four reasons why:

1. Jesus’ atoning work on the cross made us worshippers of God. (Rev. 5:9-10)
We wouldn’t even be worshipping God if Jesus hadn’t endured God’s wrath against our sin and purchased us for His Father’s glory. It takes God for us to worship God.

2. Jesus’ atoning work on the cross is our means of access to God. (Heb. 10:19-22; Eph. 2:18)
I’ve seen more than one church advertise for a worship leader who can lead a church “into God’s presence.” Tough job. Biblically speaking, no worship leader, pastor, band, or song will ever lead us “into God’s presence.” At Calvary, Jesus tore down the veil that separated us from God’s presence. His saving work is complete and will never be repeated – only joyfully recounted. Reminding ourselves of this fact is a powerful antidote to common struggles like condemnation, guilt, and feeling distant from God.

3. Jesus’ atoning work on the cross makes our worship acceptable. (1 Peter 2:4-5; Heb. 13:15)
Nothing against skill, practice, complexity, nuance, musicianship, or sincerity, but only the finished work of Christ makes our offerings of worship acceptable in God’s eyes. That’s a real relief for those of us who want everything to sound “just right.”

4. Jesus’ atoning work on the cross is the object of our adoration. (Rev. 5:11-12)
The hosts of heaven never seem to tire of extolling the Lamb who was slain. Should we?

Appreciating the centrality of Jesus’ atoning sacrifice when we worship will lead to a number of conscious choices. We will:

· make sure that we sing songs that clearly proclaim what Christ accomplished
· focus on gratitude for what God has done rather than anxiety over what we should be doing
· help people connect what Jesus did and is doing with their daily lives
· maintain a proper balance between humility that Christ had to die for us, and celebration that he has fully paid our debt

We can forget the words to a song or what key we’re playing in and people can still worship God.

But we can’t forget Jesus.

Psalm 94:16

16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?

God is calling us to make a stand in society for what is right. Isaiah 59 says 19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

You and I are to lift up a standard of righteouness against the enemy. We are not to quietly sit back and do nothing when the enemy is reaping havoc in the lives of many around us. We are to have a voice against unrighteousness.

So many young lives are being destroyed around us because we as a part of the worldwide church are sitting back and allowing it to happen. The enemy is subtly bombarding the lives of many through the media with sexual material, things to gratify the senses and many values and ideals that are anti church and anti God.

Jeremiah 9:20-21 says 20 Yet hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation. 21 For death is come up into our windows, [and] is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, [and] the young men from the streets. Death is entering lounge rooms through the TV set, magazines, newspapers etc and entering the windows to the soul to have a devastating effect on so many people.

In Jeremiah 1:4-10 we read 4 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, [and] I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. 6 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I [am] a child. 7 But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I [am] a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. 8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I [am] with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. 9 Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. 10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

God had called Jeremiah as a prophet to the nations but all Jeremiah could see was his insecurities and inadequacies. So often you and I will not make a difference in our world because all we see are our weaknesses. We must look beyond our natural weaknesses or inabilities and see God who is all powerful and able to speak through us with great authority as we rely on His Spirit.

In Daniel 5:10-12 we read 10 The queen, because of the words of the king and his lords, came to
the banquet hall. The queen spoke, saying, "O king, live forever! Do not let your thoughts trouble
you, nor let your countenance change.
11 "There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the Spirit of the Holy God. And in the days of
your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in
him; and King Nebuchadnezzar your father––your father the king––made him chief of the
magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers.
12 "Inasmuch as an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving
riddles, and explaining enigmas were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar,
now let Daniel be called, and he will give the interpretation."

We must understand that like Daniel, we can affect the society in which we live. Why? Because God has given us His Spirit and the wisdom from the Spirit of God within us far outweighs the wisdom of this world.

Prayer

Father, help me to make a stand for righteousness. Never let me get to a place where I condone wickedness or become blase to unrighteousness happening around me.

Hi worship team! It's been a while since I've posted something on this space and I'm glad the Lord has prompted me to blog over here.

I'm sure you guys can definitely agree with me that our worship team has grown in numbers since a good three/four years ago. It has been a joy serving alongside with each and every one of you and it is also very encouraging to see that many of you are putting in your best effort to worship God and making sure that you are giving of your best to Your Master.

As the New Year approaches, there are just two things I want you guys to ponder over, and most importantly, pray about it and ask God to guide you.

Most of us have been in the worship team for almost a year and some of us, more. But have we thought about our purpose here? Or is it just one of our commitments that we have to fulfill, something for us to past time, something for us to get some attention (I will elaborate later). As we become busy with our hectic schedules when school reopens, how are we going to treat our regular friday jammings, worship practice?

As we all now know, there is a very fine line that differentiates worship from performance. As musicians in the worship team, each of us are worship leaders that bring the audience into a time of worship with God. We aid that process. Even though it is good to give of your best, we must always remember who we are serving, not Man, but God. Naturally, we would want to do some kewl stuff like fancy riffs, rolls, and crazy stuff that would cause us to receive some "glory" for ourselves. No, I'm not saying we shouldn't do fancy riffs and rolls and all that. It's just that when we play, we need to always keep in mind why we are playing in a band and our sole purpose of being on stage-which is to bring the people into a time of worship. If each of us bring our own fancy tricks into the band and play according to our own rhythm and beat, then the essence of worship is essentially lost.

To be honest, when I was younger, I loved receiving nice comments about my drums and drumming style. It boosted my ego fo' sho. But it was only when I was older that I realised, eh what am I doing!? It's not about me, its about God. Hence, I want you guys to thank God for your gifts and talents that He has placed in you and think about how you can use it to glorify Him.

I guess before we begin the new year, we need to set our hearts and minds right and according to one heartbeat-which is the heartbeat for God. We need to be broken down by God so that He can use us for His mighty purposes in the Youth Ministry. And we can see that from Encounter and Camp 7lbs.

God is working mightily in YM, but are you ready to be broken down and built up stronger in Him for Him?

Hey all!

Supsupsup!
First up, just like to say WELL DONE to everyone who played in the various worhsip sessions we had in Camp 7lbs. I know you all worked very hard in the days leading to camp to prepare and practise the songs. Think everyone did a fantastic job and i thank God for each and everyone of you!

I know I say this without fail every year, but just bear with me here and at the cost of sounding like an old nag, I have to say that I'm continually amazed and encouraged by each and everyone of you! Its really amazing to see how each of us started from knowing only a few chords, to being able to play so tightly together as a band. I am continually amazed at how much everyone has improved in their various areas and I think this shows we have an exciting year ahead of us next year!
Its quite evident that each of you are being used by Him for His purposes and that He is working in each and everyone of you, to transform you into His ultimate prize. I pray that you will continue to be an empty vessel, ready to be filled up and used by Him to serve His people.
Praise God for each and everyone of YOU!

Just from looking at the past 6 months, I know that an exciting and amazing period awaits the Youth Ministry, and you guys as the worship team are going to be at the heart of it.
We have had 2 amazing but very different worship experiences over the past 6 months.
A 2 hr crying session to God in Encounter July, and a 1.5hr going crazy for God session just on Sunday. Indeed, all praise be to God!
Each very different from each other, but each also so special and great in its own way!
Have had countless youths say that Sunday was one of their best worship experiences in TMC.
How many other Youth Ministries in Singapore can say that they share the same experience these past 6 months! Thanks be to God!

I hope we can as a whole team keep up this craziness for God. We need to get undignified for Him.
If our chains of sin have already been broken by God, I think its time to start being FREE!
Yes, we may not be able to have a 2hr crying session with God every Sunday (It could happen! Only God knows!), but I'm very sure we can go crazy for Him every Sunday.
It doesn't have to start and stop at Youth retreats and Youth Camps. I know that it can carry on every single Sunday!

I have a strong feeling that we are at the brink of a revival, or who knows, it's probably even started already!
Indeed THE TIME HAS COME for something great and special to happen in this ministry....
And right now, you guys are at the heart of this revival, as servants of God serving His people.

My challenge for all of you now, as brothers and sisters in the worship team, is to keep praying for the youth ministry. Pray that we can keep this fire going, and IGNITE for God! Pray that this passion for God and to worship Him and serve Him keeps going, and that He will use us to fan these flames and keep the fire burning!
Pray for each other, and encourage each other in the team! That we may all push and each other to not only grow in our technical skills, but also in our walk with Him. That we may be models to our brothers and sisters in the church and be His light!

Brothers and Sisters, I CANNOT wait for this new year to begin, because I know God has great plans for each of us and for the ministry. And I look forward to encountering Him alongside all of you.

Indeed, the Time has Come to stand for all we believe in. So lets stand with arms high and hearts abandoned. Just and Only for HIM!

As I prepared for worship on Sunday, I felt very overwhelmed by tiredness and stress. Army has been toiling with all its regimentation and lack of organization surprisingly. It then dawned upon me to just worship the Lord where I am now, wherever state I am in now and wait upon the Lord.

The Lord reminded me of Isaiah 40, "....those who wait upon the Lord will soar on wings like eagles..." My strength was renewed, more importantly my faith was renew, knowing that God our Father loves us and cares so much for us. Thus my song choices,

1. Everlasting God (Strength will rise)
2. Your Love Is Amazing
3. All Who Are Thirsty
4. Turn your eyes upon Jesus

I would like to share the song below with you, when you're down and out, WAIT UPON THE LORD. Turn your eyes upon Jesus ... and the things on earth will look strangely dim, in the light of His Glory and Grace. What an amazing promise!

Rest is God given!

Hey all!

I know that all of you guys are having exams right now, but I'd just like to share some thoughts with you..

During my O level and A level years, I was very busy with my studies and exams as well that I pushed myself very hard to score well (I understand that results are really very important). However, no matter how hard I studied, I found myself burnt out at the end of every day and I wasn't being as productive as I hoped I would be. It was then that a friend reminded me to rest, and to put my trust in God. Because rest is God given! Even God rested on the 7th day.

Also, I'm sure many of you have heard of the verse Jeremiah 29:11. Just in case you don't remember the verse, it starts off with "For I know the plans I have for you..."

So as you go on with your exams this month (and next month for those having O levels), and for all your future exams, remember to rest even when you feel that you can't, and remember to put your faith and trust in God. He is our heavenly Father and He will never let us down (:

Sup guys! Hope the first day @ school was grrrrreat! :) Well, as the final exams approach, let's not forget to fix our eyes on Jesus Christ our Lord who is running this race together with us. I was studying today and I heard this song on my iPod and it got me thinking. Have we been too busy with our own personal lives that we have been neglecting God and putting him after our studies? Well, I'm always guility of doing so. Whilst listening to this song, I realised that if God were to come right then at that instant, I wouldn't be ready to welcome Him.

In YM today, we tackled about trusting in God's sovereignty. Trusting in the Lord with all your heart and leaning not on our own understanding.

In the lead up to the worship this Sunday, I questioned what did it mean to trust God.
What did it mean to trust God as Noah did when he built the ark, though looking like a fool.
What did it mean to trust God as Moses did when he took the people out of Egypt.
What did it mean to trust God as Peter did as he climbed over the boat and walked on water.
What did it mean to trust God as Angus did with his life in 'Faith Like Potatoes'.

If we take a closer look at each person, we notice a common similarity. Each person went through trials and temptations and suffering. They were made to look like a fool. They went through a problem that had them questioning their faith, and questioning God's commands to them. Each of them went through a heart wrenching problem that required them to decide whether they would choose to follow God, or follow themselves. But each chose to follow God, and what great men of God they all were.

So as I thought about what songs I'd like to use, I chose some songs that described how even though we encoutner problems in our lives, what we do next will be a test of faith for each of us. Would we curse the Lord or choose to resort to ourselves to solve the problems, or would we put our faith in God, trust Him, admit that we should not lean on our own understanding and trust that He would make it right?

After all, He has said in the bible that "He has great plans for each one of us... great plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)

So the first song was 'Blessed be Your Name'. Written by Matt Redman, it talked about how no matter what we go through, we still need to bless His name. Be it in joy and happiness, or in suffering and pain, we still need to bless His name no matter what.

The second song was 'Hosanna' by Paul Baloche. The key phrase in this song for me was 'cause when we see you, we find strength to face the day, and in your presence all our fears are washed away.' Isn't that powerful? The bible says in Isaiah 12:2 that "Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation." We needed to put our faith in Him, that we may find strength each day to live through it.

The third song was 'Desert Song' by Hillsong. This was a new song and introduced for the first time to YM. But it was surprising how many of them already knew it. It's a really great song that has the same meaning as Blessed be Your name. It talks about how our prayer in the desert when all else seems dry, in the fire when we go through weakness trials or pain, in the battle when triumph is yet on its way, we need to just continue praising God. We need to continue to bring praise and know that no weapon formed against us shall remain. We need to rejoice and declare that God is our victory and He is here with us each day. Be it in good times or bad times, all of our lives and in every season, we know that He is still God and we have a reason to sing! What a fantastic song this is, and may it be the cry of our hearts each day no matter what we go through.

Lastly, closed with 'From the Inside Out' by Hillsong. I've already blogged before about this song in like 6 post ago i think. But we know that a thousand times we fail, still his mercy remains; and should we stumble again, we're still caught in his grace. We need to give Him control over our lives and let Him consume us from the inside out.

I hope that as we worshipped today, we worshipped with our hearts and just let these songs be the prayer and cry of our heart. I pray that you are slowly picking up the art of losing your self in bringing Him praise.

May you have faith like potatoes.

I think this video sums it all up. As I prepared for sunday's worship, it dawned upon me, have i been living in the power of Jesus Christ. Have I changed since the time I gave my life to Jesus. If not, then have i really given myself to Him. Fortunately the answer's yes. It is because of his amazing love that we are forgiven and set free. That we are able to stand before Him and call Him our friend.

It is my prayer that as we live our lives as Christians we continue to lift him higher and higher each and everyday, in our lives, in our schools, in our families, in our relationships. It's not gonna be easy and many circumstances will come your way but God has promised to give us strength, all those that put their hope in the Lord will soar on wings like eagles.

The Will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

Sometimes we are too caught up in what happens around us in worship.
How we sound;
How we look up there;
How we we look to others in worship?

But imagine if we all could lose ourselves in worship to God.
Losing all sense of the world, losing all sense of the people around us,
losing all sense of the schedules of the world, losing all sense of the burdens of this world.
And just losing ourselves to Worship to God.
Where the focus is on G.O.D.
Nothing else. no one else.
And that's all that matters.

May all of you learn the art of losing yourself, especially in bringing God praise.
Because when you lose yourself, you gain a whole lot more.

Tear Down The Walls

Hey all,

Just thought I'd post a quick thought about worship here, since this is after all a worship blog.
On a very long bus ride today, I plugged in my iPod and had somewhat of an epiphany (Jared's new favourite word) about worship.

I sat there and wondered why TMC YM's worship is so tame. Why is it that we come every Sunday to worship, yet we look nothing like we're worshipping. We look more like lamenting to God and asking why we are out of our beds on a Sunday morning singing songs of worship. We sing "Jesus, we celebrate Your victory." But are we really celebrating His victory? And if we think we are, why do we celebrate it with glum faces and just lukewarm (ok, more like icy cold here) clapping and singing. We sing for his "Fire to Fall Down", but yet in our hearts we are probably thinking, 'Maybe not today Lord. I'm not in the mood..." We sing that "God is awesome in this place", but in our hearts, we think what would be even more awesome would be for us to get this done so I can go for lunch with my friends.

Sometimes, when i go down to visit the kindy kids, I think the kindergarten kids downstairs are having more of a worship moment with God than we are. They seem so happy to be there and to be singing the songs, be it how simple it is or how childish it may seem. They seem to mean it!

So as I sat there in the bus today, I asked God, and myself, what makes our worship so different from others? I'm sure we all have our worship moments there, but shouldn't the worship moments be happening every week.

Since this is a team, let's begin with the team. Over the past 5 years overseas, I've had the opportunity to learn more about worship from touring bands like Parachute and Hillsong United. And one thing that has hit me is that all these guys spend 9 months on the road, touring around the world and leading worship 3-5 times a week. And when they aren't leading worship, they are off recording an album or writing new songs.
But everytime they step onto that stage, they bring their 100%, they bring their everything unto God. And they worship. They don't just sing and put on an act for a concert; THEY WORSHIP. They go up there, and sing their hearts out to the only audience in the room: GOD.
EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. WITHOUT. FAIL.

Yet, coming back to us, and myself included. We lead worship at most twice a month, yet twice a month we sometimes look like we don't want to be up there leading worship. We sing about celebrating, but we look like we're mourning. We sing about surrendering to god, but it looks like we're surrendering to tiredness instead. How are all of us, as worship leaders, supposed to lead people to worship.

If we want to Worship in Spirit, we need to develop a Spirit of Worship!!

This phrase itself explains everything to do with us as worship leaders and band members. If we want to lead the people to worship in spirit, we need to develop a spirit of worship.
Everytime we speak, vapours come out of our mouth. The atmosphere is created by what comes out of your mouth. And as worship leaders, we need to use the atmosphere to set the mood for the congregation. We have the responsibility to live in a realm where we can stand on the stage in the toughest of times, and worship God. Cos we know that we have God there for us. We want to take people into a place where their burdens can dissolve away as they focus on the one thing that matters. We need to come with faith, and believe that God can and will do something supernatural in that place!

As I mentioned before, thermometers measures the atmohsphere, while a thermostat changes the atmosphere. Are you going to be a thermometer or are you going to be a thermostat and change it?!
The more we praise God, the more God comes and more people's lives will be changed. Put Your Belief into Action, next time you step up on stage.

I think our youths all have a heart for God and all want to worship God. But yet, it takes a 'Fusion' or an 'Encounter' or a 'Hillsong United Concert' to bring out their worship. But why can't they worship every sunday? That's something I ask myself every Sunday. And that's something I'll continue to search for an answer for. And try to bring it out in all of us.
Look forward to working with you all to bring us into the next and deeper level of worship. In us,and in the youths. To God.

The mustard seed

This past week, I've been thinking about the direction of the youth worship team for the next half of the year, and as I look back on the past 1 year, I've seen how much you guys have grown. We have been consistently leading worship at the 11.15 service for a few months now and we have been getting comments about how the adults have been touched by our service at 11.15am worship service and our worship has helped to experience God. I am really encouraged by each and every one of you who have eagerly stepped up and taken up the challenge to lead in the 11.15am service. I know many of us were apprehensive about whether we can handle the extra commitment, playing at the main service but I want to encourage each and every one of you on the great job that you have been doing so far.

On youth sunday, I was really touched by the skit that our youths had put up (Jared, Russ, Josh, Dom, Natalie, Audrey, Zeon). I've been particularly encouraged by the fact that our worship team people are serving in other ways other than just in the worship team and through this I have seen eager hearts of service. Although all of us are part of the worship team, it is also good to serve in other ministries. Serving in one ministry does not automatically exclude you from being able to serve in other ministries. We are all more than welcome to serve in more than one ministry, as long as we have the heart for service (: and I think that the skit team on youth sunday has really reminded me of that, and now I would like to remind the rest of us to serve, wherever and whenever we can.

As I look forward into the next half of the year, I am hoping to see more youths (in the entire youth ministry) stepping up to serve in the main church and not just in YM. Be it as an usher, display coordinator etc. We must remember that the youth ministry is not a singular entity in itself but is part of the wider church. I am also looking to see how we can continue to nurture and grow our younger band members so that they can take a step further in the service in the worship team. Right now I'd like to remind everyone of us that the ministry has to grow. We can't always expect the same people to be serving in the same ministry all the time. We have to continually nurture the younger ones so that they too can grow the same way that we have grown over the years. So that just like how others have invested their time and energy into nurturing us, we too will nurture them and they too will nurture others in time to come.

Let us think of the worship team (and the people in it) as a mustard seed that needs to be continually watered and looked after. Whatever we put in, in His name, will reap benefits and fruits in time to come. So long as we continue to look after the mustard seed, it will continue to grow.

It is my challenge to all of us in the team, to ask ourselves what we can do to help the worship team to grow, and how we can help to nurture the younger ones.

The Meaning of Worship.

Hey all,

Just thought I'd start put my journalism major to use and write a series of worship articles since this is a worship team blog. Anyway, I hope you do take time to ponder over it and reflect on our roles as worship leaders (yes, everyone in the band is a woship leader!)

Sometimes, we questions ourselves what is worship? Sometimes it feels like a karaoke session to just sing some Christian songs. And at other times, it creates a warm feeling in us that we can't figure out where it comes from.

Worship involves seeing what God is worth, then giving Him what He's worth. True worship treasures God's presence. In short, Worship is the avenue whereby God invades our space with His grace and changes whatever is unholy into holy. We don't worship the form, the style or the activities. We worship God. Many times we approach worship as consumers and the focus is on MY experience. It's kinda like watching a movie and critiquing it afterwards. Don't we find ourselves doing that sometimes?

"Oh the worship was ok. I didn't really feel anything out of it."
"Oh the worship was great. I felt like the songs really spoke to ME."

Think back to the last time we worshipped? Not attend a worship, but actually worship?!
When we actually got higher than the platform, the singers, the band and the preacher, and we had an audience of one, an encounter with God.

If we are going to worship in Spirit, then we must develop a spirit of worship.

We must and need to prepare for worship like we're preparing to play in a competition. Get our heads into focus and don't be distracted by anything. Invest every moment that we have into the time of worship.

There are 3 ingredients for true worship that I think is vital to each of us.

1. Humility

Without humility, we cannot truly worship God. Because the focus will not be on God, but on ourselves.
Humility means to lower yourself and admit yourself to the will of another - God. So when we worship, we are coming under the submission of the Holy Spirit, and allowing Him to act, walk, and speak in and through us.
Romans 12 says we need to present our body to God as a living sacrifice.
We need to forget about how we look, how we sound, how we even act. When we choose to worship, we expect the Holy spirit to take control. We expect Him centre stage.

2. Faith

Hebrew 11:6 says " And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." Obviously, when we worship God, we need to know and believe that God is there. If not, we are just singing and not meaning anything. It isn't worship!
We need to believe firstly that there is a God. And secondly, that He is there when we worship and seek Him. That He will come down and be in that room. That is our reward from God. To be in His presence as we worship Him!
The act of worship is 100% selfless. We need faith that He will reward us for our diligence.

3. Obedience

We come to God when we humbled ourselves. Then we enter His presence. He will begin to speak to us. This is when we must make the decisions to believe in Him or not. We need to have faith and obediently follow His voice. Obedience is key. We need to trust and obey.

The greek words for worship are Proskeuno and Latreuo.
Proskeuno translate to the outward expression of worship (be it in kneeling, prostrating or hands lifted high0.
Latreuo translates to "to serve for a price."

True worship is the Christian's spirit-led response to the divine reconciling love of the heavenly Father made possible by the redeeming death of Jesus Christ. It is the offering of the totality of ourselves to God, for His glory and purpose. It is the giving to God of all that we are and all that He has endowed us with. And it begins after the worship service.

True worship is about consecrated lips and surrendered hands.
It is the key to everything in life.
Worship in spirit and in truth.

Arms Open Wide

Two weeks ago, I challenged everyone during jamming to take another look at worship and what it means to us. I felt it came to a point where its time to question why we stand there every other sunday and lead worship.

As we enter into this youth Sunday, and also lead the congregation into a time of worship in both services, I think it's even more vital we sit back and reflect on what worship is to us.

Worship to me is probably one of the most important aspects of a Christian walk with God. People don't remember words of a sermon, but yet, they get stuck with a worship song in their head that they just can't seem to get out of. Other than prayer, it is one of the best ways we can connect with this God, and just tell Him how much we love Him and give Him praise for it.

To me, leading worship is one of my greatest joy in life. I love our jamming sessions, I love practising for worship and I love leading worship on Sunday. To be honest, the idea of coming together with like-minded peers, with God-given talents, and using these God-Given talents to worship and serve God, is absoluetly mind-boggling!

But sometimes, we lose sight of what worship means to us. We get so engrossed with making the song sound just the way we want it to sound, or have the transition sounds absolutely perfect or even have the starting of the song to be just the way we envisioned, that we lose sight of what the heart of worship is. The technicalities actually rob us of the worship experience, because we get so distracted with it that we don't have the time to give God praise.

I used to be really uptight about making the song sound right, but now, I encourage those who jam or lead worship with me to just do what they can. Obviously we need to ensure the worship is not distracting by being utterly horrible, but worship is also about putting in our efforts to practise, and then surrendering it all to God. It's about enjoying the fellowship of your team members, and also enjoying being in the presence of the Lord in your service to Him.

An amazing encounter with God through worship can come in various forms. We can encounter Him with a full band as we have done so in the past and with other travelling international bands, but yet, we can also encounter God with just 1 instrument, as we did in Encounter. Either way, it shows its not the technical side of worship that causes one to worship, but its the fact that we all bring ourselves to the Lord and worship in Spirit and truth, surrender everything and earnestly seek Him without letting any of the wordly distractions get between you and Him. Because it's all about Jesus. That is when you will get an amazing encounter with God.

Worship is about coming with arms wide open. And just telling God, Lord I am Yours and You are mine.

So brothers and sisters in Christ, as we come together once more on this Sunday to celebrate the youthfulness He has given us, as well as to celebrate the blessings He has poured onto the Youth Ministry, let us come together and enjoy ourselves in the worship. Let this not be just another worship session where we are so concentrated on getting that sound to sounds perfect, but rather, let us make a joyful noise with our tongues and use this opportunity to worship Him. When we sing songs of praise, sing it with a smile because He has made us free!
And when we sing songs to declare what He has done in our lives, sing it from your heart and mean every word of it.
For our God is an awesome God.

As a closing, I'd like to share this song that has been stuck in my head for like 2 weeks now. It's off the new Hillsong United CD and has to be one of my favourite songs. Because it basically says all that I want to say to God in just one song.

Hello my worship monkeys!

According to the worship schedule, we are supposed to be having a full band worship this sunday .. However, we will be changing to only one-man guitar worship session as most of you will be involved in youth sunday, and hern shung has other plans for this sunday's worship & YM .. so, there will be no worship practise this friday ...

On another note, for those who are involved in youth sunday, please note that we will be having 2 worship practices next week (both practices are compulsory btw) .. I still have to confirm with the worship leaders as well as the PA crew regarding the dates but it will most probably be on the weekday nights (tentatively monday night and thursday night) .. this is because there will be a small group conference for the whole day (and night) on friday and saturday and thus the worship hall will be fully booked. So, please book these 2 nights for worship practices and let me know if you are unable to make it by tomorrow latest so that we can figure out a better date ... we will be coming out with the songs soon so do check your emails for updates on the songs ..

I'm sure that most of you have already finished your exams -duh- since holidays are NEXT WEEK! yayy! For those who did well in your exams, kudos to you! For those who did not do so well, work harder next time and remember the Jeremiah 29:11 ..

Anyhow, there will be CHOW this Sunday at 2pm in the Upper Room.. If you guys have checked your emails, you would have realised that jestyn has already emailed you the details.. The plan for CHOW looks really interesting and I believe that we can all learn alot from it ... Unfortunately, I will not be in Singapore this weekend, however, I do hope that all (if not most) of you will go for it... It will not only be a great time of learning with the adult band regarding worship and worship leading but also a great time of fellowship with the adult band ...

So do let jestyn know your attendance asap so that he can arrange lunch etc.

Hello Guys and gals!

Just letting you know and remind you that we have a worship team gathering this Saturday.

Organised by the adult worship team, its gonna be a great time of fellowship with the older folks, plus the PA and display crew as well.

Do make sure you step out and have a chat with them during the BBQ and not stick to the youths only!

We have already booked your place for the BBQ so don't pull out last minute!

I hear there will be a 'funny' skit/ performance by Daryl and Richard, so more reason for u to come.

The details are:

We are meeting in Church at 5.00pm. Then heading down together to Alfred Lie's place.
Their place is somewhere in Dover. Ill find out later, but we'll head in together.

There is a "day of Prayer for Missions" service starting at 2pm and going to 4pm. I encourage and really hope you will come down and join us, as we pray for the Lord to touch our church into missions, and also pray for the people of cambodia.

If you ever intend to go on a missiont trip, or have been before, you are even more encouraged to join us!

So I do hope to see you there!

Thanks jill for the post below.
I'd like to say something about today as well.

Like Jill said, I really agree that you guys have improved tremendously over the years.
It was only like yesterday when i was sitting with some of you in the foyer after lunch having a quick jam.
And now, looking at you guys, it's really been God's blessing.
It's amazing to see him working through you all.
And to the younger band, they are great role models to follow. They started out as you were now. I can remember how we could not play tight as a band, but look where they are now.
Truly God's blessing.

I, as well, felt His presence today during the worship.
Not only in the first 2 songs, but as we entered into "Mercy", I felt His presence with us. It is just a blur to me now, because time stood still for me as I worshipped Him. Given that it was a new song along with Fire Fall Down for the youths, all i can remember is hearing the youths singing those songs quite loudly and with some passion. Not to mention Glorified as well.

I think and I know that deep inside each and every single youth, there is a longing and desire to worship God with their hearts. There is a longing to go deeper than they've ever been before with God.
And I pray that with each worship and each YM, the Lord will use us to help them dig this passion out, so they can begin worshipping God with their hearts, souls and minds.

Today we glorified God for the Love that He gave.
For the Mercy that He showed.
And for the Grace that He poured.

His Mercy saved us, His Mercy made us whole.
His Mercy found us, Called us as His own.

I hope to see everyone of the band, making an attempt to attend every single service this week.
It starts at 8pm at the sanctuary.

Hey everyone!

I just wanna encourage the band today, (hernshung, mark, clara, bryan, jared and russ) because I think you guys really did a great job. Not so much on the technical side, but kudos to all you guys because I think you pulled off All For Love and What The World Will Never Take really well. I felt God's presence coming down strongly in the Upper Room today and all praise to Him for that! I had goosebumps but I'm pretty sure it wasn't the air-con.

As I sit back and think, it really touches me to see how much we've grown as a band. I know the older youths (hernshung, xr, jestyn) have been telling us that too.. but from my own p.o.v, i really (x1000000) think that we've improved tremendously! i mean, i remember the times i struggled to do a fill-in, to do a basic beat. Or for instance the electric- doing the break free solo seemed impossible. Or maybe the bass- salvation is here solo. Ok sorry josh i don't know the keyboards haha.

From then till now, its really a world of difference! we now understand what it means to be "tighter" or who should go first, the whole arrangement thingmajig. And I thank God for really placing us in the band and I'm sure its not by chance that we can play together.

Let us continue to shine forth for Him, :)

A Friendly Reminder

Hellohello!

Im looking forward to getting back into leading worship tmr.
It's actually my my first time back leading worship in YM with a full band.
Our prac on friday lasted 5 hours but what a great 5 hours it was.

Anyway, just so you guys are kept in the loop,
the songs we're doing tmr are All For Love, What the world will never take, Mercy, Fire Fall Down and Glorified.
Hope you guys come with a heart that is ready to worship God tmr, because we're going to go deep into the heart of worship.

On another note,
I know there's another 2 weeks of jamming coming up.
Woohoo!
But before we go into jamming, I'd like to remind EVERYONE, in particular the younger band, about our responsibilities as band members.

I've noticed that of late, alot of us are coming to jammings without having properly listened to the song or practised it on our own time at home.
Ok, maybe we hear it once or twice and think we've got it.
But I'd like to remind everyone that it is our responsibility to listen to the song over and over again and practise our parts of the song.

This goes for both worship practise as well as jamming actually.
When I lead worship or play for the adult band, during the week, I would have burnt the songs onto CD and made it into a playlist on my iPod, and listen to it whereever i went.
This is so I am familiar with the song and how the feel of it goes.
I don't expect you to do the same, but it would be fantastic if you did listen hard to the song before jamming/prac so you know your part.

Obviously for prac, its quite clear, because we only have 2 hours to practise 4-5 songs, and then have to play those on Sunday at YM.

But with jamming, I know it's for fun and its not leading to anything.
BUT its still worship.
One of the purposes of jamming is to gather us as a band, practise some songs and try to improve our own skills as well as our tightness as a band.
So if you come without knowing the songs or knowing your part, you'll be wasting your time, my time and your band members time.

Please do in the future, check back the blog on tuesday/wed. Jill and Jared are fantastic in posting the songs by those days, so it gives you ample time to listen to it over and over again, pick up your instrument and practise it every night!

Just a friendly reminder guys!

Just thought I'd put a quick post up.

As most of us know, Holy week is once again upon us, as is Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
These are by far one of the most important dates in the diary of a christian,
because as you know, on these days, our saviour died for us, and rose again 3 days later.

For most of us, we've probably heard the Good Friday story so many times,
that when i mention it, we just go "oh, alright. yeah. cool."
I used to do the same thing. It used to be just another christian event for me. Like christmas.

But then last year while preparing for worship on Good Friday,
we were reminded by our pastor about the importance and significance of the day.
It is the day that our God was whipped, crowned with a crown of thorns, nailed to the cross and was crucified.... FOR US.
So that we don't have to go through the same thing.

Do not let the familiarity of the good friday story rob us of the its power.
The fog of familiarity should never rob this story of the power, significance, feelings and importance it deserves.

Even as we sing new songs like "All For Love', it too carries so much meaning.
All for LOVE our Father gave.
He gave His life to take our place.
So let's start living for His glory!

Next Sunday's worship, I'll be using it as a time for us to prepare into entering into a time of Holy Week.
I will challenge everyone to start preparing their hearts and start reflecting on why they believe in God.
I will challenge everyone to start picking up their cross every single day.
Because i think it's time we took Him seriously.

On another note,
No chairs are gonna be brought out for worship next week.
You can figure it out yourself.

Such powerful lyrics, that encapsulate what I want to say to the Lord each every day of my life. Every morning I wake up, I want this to be the song of my heart.

I hope you take the moment, to listen to this.

CAM Camp 2009

Hello!!!!

Just letting you budding muscians out there know there is a Creative Arts Ministry Camp coming up soon, organised by Truthmin!

The Creative Arts Ministry (CAM) camp is for beginners. If you are 12 and above and have a basic knowledge in playing your instrument, singing or worship leading, this is the camp for you!

There are 6 workshops to choose from:

-Keyboards (you need to be grade 4 and above only)
-Guitars
-Bass
-Vocals
-Worship Leading
-Drums

It'll cost $30 per participant, inclusive of lunch and training materials.
It is held at ACS Independent (same place as Fusion) from the 18th - 20th March 2009.
From 9am to 4pm.
So for all you guys and gals who don't have anything to do in the school holidays, and even if you do, come join the camp!

Please let me(HernShung/Jason Mraz) know if you are interested to join it by 11th March latest!
So I can sign you up and do the necessary arrangements!

Running after who???

Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd share a thought that has bugged me all week.

After all the hype of Fusion, its made me reflect on the event that just past.
No doubt it was a fantastic day of just gathering to worship the Lord and seeking God. No doubt we saw the lives of many youths being transformed. And no doubt that the presence of the Lord was indeed there during those sessions.

But another thing that has bugged me were some comments made prior to the event.
I had youths call up and ask me what time were Planetshakers performing, so that they could come for that session.
At that point, I hadn't know Planetshakers were going for all 4 sessions, so i told them all that the band will be there probably for the last session, but encouraged them to attend the other speaker sessions.
The reply I got was "Oh, I only want to attend their session."
It irked me then, but i chose to keep quiet about it.
Now that it's over, I can say that it's made me rethink the whole purpose and focus of this event.

Like I mentioned above, I have no qualms about how powerful the potential of Fusion can be in transforming lives.
Yet, we need to rediscover why we're really going for it.
Are we going to watch some international band play, or are we going to seek God?
It's a question that only we can answer in our hearts.
We sing we're 'Running after you', but who are we running after? God or the band?

Which leads me to my next observation.
I admit, I do a lot of blog hopping when I have the time. (Everyone watch out =) )
And after Fusion, it was great to see comments like 'My life was changed' and 'I want to live a more holy life from now on' and yadda yadda...
But then a few days later, we see the same authors of these blogs and nicknames curse vulgarities and swear on their blogs. Whatever happened to this promise they had made before?
Somehow, the event was a great way to kickstart the youths to live passionate lives for Jesus.
But we need to somehow maintain it.
The same message can be said with the way we worship.
I know that God did not empower the Planetshakers band any different from the empowerment and annointing He has placed on our own worship team.
Apart from our skills, I think we need to have the same passion as this band to worship the Lord wholeheartedly.
It all ends up in our hearts and the hearts of the youths.
We, as a band, need to continue to encourage our youths to be 'passionate people' in whatever they do.
Because once they feel the passion to live for God, they start honouring God with their lives.
And it starts with the way we worship.
Worship is the best form of theological teaching in church.
Ask a person to remember a sermon and he'd vaguely remember parts of it.
Ask a person to remember songs, and he can probably sing a whole song that will get stuck in his head.

Brothers and sisters, I encourage you the next time you worship the Lord, just let the Spirit fill you and guide you.
Whatever the Lord guides you to do, do it.
If you feel the prompting to lift your hands, do it without a care in the world of what the people around you think.
if you think you need to kneel before the Lord, do it.
And if you feel like dancing before the Lord, then do it.
Because once everyone sees how passionate we are as fellow christians, our passion and enthusiasm will be so contagious that we can't contain it to ourselves.

Like what Ps Matt said in his sermon, we have a God who is soooo BIG, and if he lives in us, we should be bursting with His love and presence!
So everyone around you should feel it and see it too.

Let's be a contagious community and an infectious community!
Let's keep this fire burning for God!

hey my wonderful worship monkeys!

i think the last 2 posts have really said everything that i'm feeling ..
Right now i just want to encourage you on the great job that you guys have been doing!

During Fusion and even during yesterday's worship, i have seen a passion for God in you guys that have really encouraged me .. as a worship team, i believe that radical worship starts from us .. and i believe that we are already in the midst of a transformation ..

i know that i made it compulsory for the worship team to go for Fusion, but I believe that many of you have gone out of your will. There's only so much that I can do to get you guys to go for Fusion and I believe that for many of you, you were there because you wanted to and not because I made it compulsory . That being said, I'm encouraged by your hearts of worship ..

again, great job you guys during yesterday's worship sessions .. Sitting next to the youths, I could feel that God is starting a transformation in many of their lives.

Continue to ROCK for God !! (:

Fusion 2009!

Hey guys, and gals!

I'd like to say well done to both bands for doing a great job in leading the youths and the church into worship today!

It's always very very very encouraging to see this generation of youths rise up to take a stand for God, using the skills that the Lord has placed in your hands to fulfil the purposes He has placed in your hearts!

You guys have definitely improved tremendously over the years, and its amazing to see how the Lord has transformed each and everyone of you into the individuals you are today.

Its indeed amazing that the pastor challenged you guys the same challenge i said in the previous post. I hope you will take it seriously and just even an hour out of your day just to do that!

You know after spending 15 hours (!) at Fusion yesterday, and seeing thousands of youths worshipping the Lord with all their hearts, I feel that this is a generation that is indeed after God's heart and that are filled with passionate people.
And I truly believe these people are in our youth ministry!

You know, in the 3rd session, after the pastor shared about dying to ourselves, we had an alter call. And it was one of the most amazing sights I've seen. About 600+ youths were on their knees, with hands lifted high, crying out for the Lord to transform their lives.
And within all these youths, I saw our TMC youths with a similar cry in their hearts.
And watching in the night session, all 3,200 youths in the hall jumping and dancing before the Lord, radically worshipping the Lord, it really made me realise, within all of us, there is a passion to want to know God more. And last night, I think the Lord touched all of our lives.

Brethrens, we need to use this opportunity to keep this passion burning for God within our youth ministry!
You see, a thermometer is someone who measures the atmosphere, while a thermostat is someone who doesn't care about the current atmosphere and wants to change it!
So my question to you now is,

Are You a Thermometer or a Thermostat?

Will you, as worship leaders, take this step out of your comfort zone and infect the other youths with the same fire and passion burning in you?

We are the Jesus generation,
It's time to rise up and be part of the revolution!
